A great preamp that will deliver the tone only a true Mesa can bring out. Versatile enough for all range of tones from Sonic Youth's clean to ACD/DC's raw overdrive to Metallica's heavy metal distortion. The Studio Pre is loaded with cool features that serve well in both live and studio applications. There's a switch on the front for the 5-band EQ. On/Off/Auto On, when you switch to the lead channel. On the back is a jack to use a foot switch for the EQ. Great for solos as the lead will cut through with a boost. The Clean channel is truly clean. You'll even be amazed at how your bridge pickup will sound. You can set your bands so you can have one for faster and harder rock, and the other for softer, pop, and commercial sound. And in the studio, you'll wonder how you ever it made this far without the Pre! Smooth creamy feedback and sustain even at very low settings. It has two sets of outputs. Studio outputs and Main outputs. While Mesa states that the only difference is the EQ settings, many swear that the Studio outputs sounds better going into a power amp -- and that's an understatement!
