Amp Auction Description: Gibson Norlin Moog Lab Series L5 Guitar Amplifier Complete Please ask any questions prior to bidding. This will prevent any issues later. Thanks for your understanding. Also please read the entire description carefully. It covers the shipping situation completely. Here is one of the best solid state guitar amps ever designed and built. During the glory years of the 1970's at Gibson, Robert Moog of synthesizer fame designed the Lab Series line of amplifiers. Among the endorsing performers were Ronnie Montrose, Ty Tabor and B. B. King. To this day B. B. uses an L5 on stage. The design was way ahead of its time with a killer built in compressor and parametric midrange EQ. One of the problems limiting the success of the Lab Series and has plagued Gibson over the years was weak marketing. Since the Lab Series was quite complex, it took considerable time and effort to explore the vast array of sound possibilities. The documentation was poorly written and potential buyers did not understand the magnitude of the Lab Series amp. If you are looking at this auction, chances are you are familiar with the Lab amp. If you are not familiar with it you are in for an amazing journey in solid state technology. This amp sounds more like a tube amp than most tube amps. The power and quality was virtually unequalled in its price range then and now. More and more players are discovering the Lab Series amp. Clean original unmolested examples are getting extremely scarce. They have been out of production for almost 30 years. The L5 is this auction is pristine. It is original. It has NOT been modified in any way. It is complete with its original cover and casters. The L5 original cover is a collector's item in its own right. The cover shows original folding creases and very slight edge wear. There are no stains, cuts or tears. It is excellent plus. You will also receive all the paperwork. Some of it is original. Some of it is copied from original documents. The owners' manual, schematics and envelope are original. You will receive a laminated set of control hang tags which were reproduced from the originals. These are invaluable in understanding the control functions. Everything works as it should including the compressor and the reverb. The original stock speakers are CTS. They can handle the power and sound super. The cosmetics are exceptional. There are no tears, scratches or cuts to the covering. Even the bottom is virtually flawless. The corners are not dented. The control plate is also clean with only minimal signs of use. The Lab Series plate on the grill is intact. This amp has been on stage only a few times. For most of its life it has been wall paper and used occasionally for practice sessions and recording. You'll not find many in this condition. The pictures tell the story far better than I can. Now as far as shipping, the amp weighs 55 pounds. I do not have the materials necessary to properly pack it to avoid shipping brutality. Therefore you have two options. First you can pick it up in the Cleveland Ohio area. The time and place will be arranged after the auction. Second, I will take it to the local UPS store for you. I will provide the UPS contact information. You can then arrange packing and shipping directly with UPS. I have used this option with several buyers. It works well and has proved successful in every case. This is a terrific amp in super condition. It is being sold because I am no longer performing in venues requiring the power of an L5. It is time for the next player to enjoy it. Bid with confidence. Enlarged photos are available by email request. Be sure to include your email address when requesting them. Treat yourself. Life is short. Enjoy your toys. Pray for our Country and our brave soldiers. Once again, please ask questions before placing a bid. This will avoid any possible misunderstanding later. Thank you.Bid with confidence. Enjoy the springtime. Treat yourself. Life is short.Pray for our Country and our brave Soldiers. On May-15-10 at 09:05:35 PDT, seller added the following information:PLEASE NOTE: The Ebay Item Specific section states the amp as NEW. It is not brand new. It looks like new but it is "USED". It has been used sparingly over its 30+ year lifetime. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks to the alert person who made me aware of this Ebay error. DC
