This Peavey ULTRA is all tube, with great sound quality. It's got 120 watts of tube power - plenty for just about any occasion.The Ultra has a good Clean sound, and a truly great distortion tone. It has 2 distortion channels - Crunch for mild to moderate distortion, and Ultra for massive distortion. This is true tube distortion - very different from the harsh, gritty sound you get from transistors. There are all kinds of digital devices on the market that claim to sound like tube distortion, but they don't. It has 3 switchable channels. The clean has a level control, push bright, 3-band EQ. The Crunch and Ultra Channels have pre & post gain, gain boost switch, and 3-band EQ. It also has a 3 position resonance switch, a half-power switch, and an effects loop. It also has high-quality spring Reverb. All these controls allow you to dial in a wide variety of sounds.Another cool effect is that the Peavey logo on the front lights up, and changes color to show what mode you're in - green for Clean, yellow for Crunch, and red for Ultra. The original Peavey foot switch is included. This is important, because you can't access all the features of the amp without the foot switch. These foot switches are very expensive if you buy them seperately.Also included is a complete extra set of tubes: 4 Electro-Harmonix 12AX7EH preamp tubes, and 4 Mesa Engineering 6L6GC power tubes. Also included is a printout of the Owner's Manual.In terms of sound quality, you just can't beat an all tube amp. Once you've played tubes, you'll never want to play transistors again!The amp is used, but in good condition. The only problem with it is a slight backgound hum that you can only hear when you're not playing. Once you start playing you will totally drown it out. Cosmetically the amp is excellent, with only a couple of small smudges to show that it's not brand new. This amp gives you a great opportunity to get into the world of tubes without spending a lot of money.
