Amp Auction Description: You are bidding on a used Sound City 120R Amplifier. This is a big powerful vintage amplifier. This belonged to a guy in a band I used to do sound for years back. I got this in trade for sound work. I have had it on the shelf for ever. I do not play so it is one of those items that needs to move on. It is a complete working amplifier. I took this to a pro repair shop in Columbus Ohio where the owner used to work on these as an authorized repair center. He went through this top to bottom. We saved 3 of the original Mullard EL34 tubes that were still in good working condition and matching we installed three matching EL34 Groove Tubes biased it cleaned some pots,tube sockets etc. and it is good to go.All the preamp tubes look as if they are original they are the pinched glass type with all EC#s The original owner was a tech guy so he did a good job of maintaining it and it is not moded it probably has a replaced part here and there over the years but over all is pretty much original. It is missing one original knob on the reverb control I installed the black one in the picture. I have done some searching on line and I see a lot of conjecture as to what these were as original verses parts changed moded etc. I tried to get nice descriptive pictures so you can be the judge. As I said this is a working unit and could go do a gig tonight. That being said if you were to retube the whole thing with all new tubes a few trick caps etc.you could make it better and you will have one hell of an amp when finished.Sense I was selling it I did not put all new tubes in it. I know tube brands and style are a personal thing so I will leave that up to you if you feel the need. The case has a few nicks but overall very clean for a item of its age. It even has the original clear plastic cover (the cover is very yellowed an a little frayed but it comes with the deal). The chassis is in good condition a little tarnished but not bent or rusted or new holes drilled in it. If you ever wanted one of these here is one complete and working. This auction is only for the described head no speaker cabinet is included. This unit weighs in at just over 50 Lbs. so with careful packing we are talking about 60 Lbs shipping weight.You will pay only actual shipping cost and insurance.
