Amp Auction Description: MARSHALL 1968 100 WATT SUPER TREMOLO PLEXIFormerly Owned by Eric Johnson This auction is for an original 1968 Marshall 100 watt SuperTremolo plexi head. This head wasowned and used by Eric Johnson for many years as authenticated by hishandwritten letter shown here. Thesuccessful bidder will get the original letter as part of the sale. That in itself is kinda cool but the sonicqualities of this head are really wonderful. Truly a tone monster - who's pickier about tone than it'sformer owner. It is capable ofthat wonderful Marshall clean at lower volumes to that classic Marshall crunchwhen cranked up a bit. Asindicated in the pictures, it is original except for some maintenancereplacement of worn out electronics, two changed switches, and a small hole inthe back plexi panel. Theplexi panels themselves are in wonderful condition with a minimum of stainingand are virtually crack free. Thetransformers are all original including the lay down mains power tranny. One of the things for sure that setsthis amplifier apart, and probably has a great deal of influence on it's tonalpalette, is that it has the very desirable "large" output transformerand not the smaller one used on others. Although not shown in the pics, it does come with the full compliment oftubes. How does it work? Flawlessly, with zerogremlins. It's just a killerhead. Though not included in thisauction, if interested, I have the correct Marshall repro logo (yes, the onewith the proper pin spacing - NOT the one commonly sold by Marshall with theWRONG spacing that makes the script "h" look so silly). The pictured original 1967 Marshall slant pinstripe cabinet,with the rare original logo's, is not included in this auction but willbe listed shortly¦yes, it's the exact cabinet type made famous by early Creamand Jimi sporting the "100" logo in the upper left corner.
