Amp Auction Description: *****OWN A PIECE OF ROCK HISTORY*****1989 Marshall JCM800 1959SLP Up for bid is 1989 Marshall JCM800 1959SLP MK-II 100 watt head. The head is in practically mint condition especially for being 22 years old! Used very few times because of its loudness and it has not left my house. It still works just as it did in 1989. The capacitors have been professionally replaced and the amp professionally cleaned. The 1959SLP's are very iconic and are known as the original plexi amplifiers this is a JCM 800 reissue which is pretty hard to find. Most JCM 800 amplifiers have a Master Volume, however, the 1959SLP's do not making them extremely loud. The head has been PROFESSIONALLY modified to have a master volume but NO HOLES HAVE BEEN DRILLED and it is very simple to make it original again, though I don't see any reason too. Here's a link to what has been done www.pleximods.com/prepimv.html I know Voodoo Amps will charge a lot of money to do this same mod. Will include jumper cable. I Love this amp but unfortunately I can't hold on to it and I want to see it go to a good home. If you want some really detailed information on this amp please visit www.drtube.com/marshall.htm#JCM800No Reserve. Please bid confidently. If you have ANY questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you and Good Luck! Here's Some History: In 1965 Pete Townshend and John Entwistle of The Who requested that Marshall design an amplifier that had more power than the current low wattage amplifiers on the market. Marshall's developers Ken Bran and Dudley Craven answered this request by doubling the number of output valves, adding a larger power transformer, and an extra output transformer this was the first 100 watt Marshall amplifier. Marshall named these first 100 watt heads "Super Lead 1959". The 1959 had two channels and each channel had a high and a low gain input giving it four iconic inputs; the channels can be bridged using a jumper cable. They were originally equipped with four KT88s, than eventually EL34s, in the power section and three ECC83s in the pre-amplifier section. Produced from 1965 to 1981 when they were replaced by the JCM 800 series amplifiers. These "original plexi amplifiers", as they became known, were so widely popular Marshall reissued them for the first time in 1988 with the new box and the new panel originally started with the JCM 800 series.
