This is the '90 Mesa Boogie .50 Caliber electric guitar amplifier. Serial #: 17901. Chassis dated 1990. The late 80's/early 90's are considered a great period for amp companies. Guitarists were looking for incredible dynamic saturated tones. Amplifier companies were at war trying to outdo one another. Who won? The guitar players of course. Mesa Boogie has been a top name in tube amplifiers for decades. Every famous guitarist has a Mesa in their backline. The 6L6 design is the perfect counterpoint to the Marshall EL34. The .50 Caliber is 50 watts of all tube power- 5 12ax7's and 2 6L6's! Two channels- clean and distortion. The clean channel here is incredible. Warm with a great crisp pick attack. With the onboard true spring reverb, this channel really comes alive. Of course, the gain channel is what Mesa is really kown for. Everything from thick blues crunch to incredible full throttle gain. The .50 Caliber has a 5 band equalizer for the ultimate in tonal flexibility. Ad it's footswitchable! This means you can set one tone on the parametric eq and set a completely different tone one the graphic- it's like having a 3rd channel! Of course, all of your favorite Mesa tones are built right in- the 'Santana', 'Dream Theater', & 'Metallica' tones are right there. Awesome! All of this tube goodness runs into the Celestion/Mesa Black Shadow 12" speaker. This beauty is in very clean condition, some light tolex wear. This amp has been fully tested and works perfectly!
