Amp Auction: Fender Blackface AB-763 Super Reverb Chassis

Fender Blackface AB-763 Super Reverb Chassis Amp Auction Description: For Your consideration is a fully rebuilt Fender AB-763 Super Reverb Tube Amplifier Chassis with all Tubes. Your Music is a work of art, why shouldn't your amplifier be a work of art also?THIS IS ONE OF THE VERY BEST SOUNDING SUPER REVERB AMP'S I HAVE HEARD IN MY 50 YEARS AS A MUSICIAN AND ENGINEER! This amp REALLY Sounds RICH & LUSH!This chassis is on par with RAWoods Cabinets, it really is that good!ONE YEAR WARRANTY! Everything on this amplifier is covered under this warranty for one full year (including all four transformers), except the tubes, which have a 30 day warranty. This warranty is strictly limited to the chassis as sold in this eBay Listing. There is no other warranty offered; either expressed or implied. The amplifier must be returned to the seller for all warranty work and buyer pays all warranty shipping. The difference between this amplifier and the "Black Face Closet Amplifiers" that have not seen much use is that this amplifier contains all new components. All old capacitors, switches, variable pot controls, even the old Eyelet Boards go bad with age and use. All Electronic components have what is known as a "Shelf Life", meaning that if you just leave it on the shelf long enough it will go bad, even if you don't use it. ALL capacitors go bad with age and the average life for a capacitor is 20 years. This amplifier was painstakingly rebuilt over a time period of 6 months, this was obviously not a "RUSH" job, and it shows in the details of construction.* Only the very finest components have been used in the manufacture of this amp!* Turret board construction with Black Glass Epoxy Substrate board! * Color Coded push-back wire!* 100% NEW; 100% Stainless Steel Hardware (even the transformers), not nickel plated, like Fender - NO MORE RUST!* 100% CTS Control Potentiometers!* 100% NOS Allen-Bradley Resistors!* All Lab Grade with Strong Mechanical Connections on all components and terminations PRIOR TO SOLDERING as well as Strong Electrical Connections!* Black Felt Washers behind all control knobs for smoother operation and longer faceplate life!* All signal path capacitors are Sprague Orange Drop and these ARE better capacitors than the round blue tubular ones used by Fender. You WILL get better tone from these capacitors!TUBES:The tubes used in this amplifier are as follows:* One New 5U4G NOS RCA BIG BOTTLE TUBE* Two New 6L6G Russian issue Tung-Sol BIG BOTTLE TUBES* Two New 12AT7 Russian issue Electro-Harmonix with Tall Plates* Four New 12AX7 Russian issue Mullard Tubesi highly recommend this specific tube set over any other brand, especially the Big Bottle tubes. Why? TONE! The Big Bottles may not be quite as loud but there tone is WAY better than the 6L6GC and 5U4GC medium sized equivalents.THIS AMPLIFIER CHASSIS IS 100% NEW EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING:* Genuine Fender Chassis from a 1974 Super Reverb Amplifier Chassis #A55705* Genuine Fender Output Transformer #022855 606-2-03 Schumacher Transformer dated the Third Week of 1972* Genuine Fender Power Transformer #J022798 606-72-01 Schumacher Transformer dated the First Week of 1972* Genuine Fender Choke Transformer #022698 606-1-30 Schumacher Transformer dated the Thirtieth Week of 1971* Genuine Fender Reverb Transformer #022921 606-2-08 Schumacher Transformer dated the Eighth Week of 1972* Genuine Fender Power Receptacle on the rear of the chassis* Four Genuine Fender RCA Jacks on the back of the amplifier for the reverb spring unit and the foot pedalsGROUNDING:The way this amplifier is grounded is very different from the way Fender grounded their amps. This amplifier has each ground point run back to the input jack of the vibrato channel with a seperate ground wire not stopping off to pick up any other points along the way. Fender ran every ground point to the chassis as soon as possible. The reason i deviated from Fender is that the way i did it made the amplifier noticeably quieter than the stock Fender Amps between notes. I suspect that Fender did not do it the way i did it simply because it takes a LOT more time to build an amp and a whole lot more wire as well to build an amp this way; it simply came down to benefit versus cost. This amp is noticeably quieter than a stock Fender amp.Why so expensive? i have over $800 in new parts in this rebuild!I have a Hammond/Gibbs/Fender Spring Unit, RCA Cables and black foot switch assembly with new Fender Cable and Carling foot switches, if you need them. ...If the Auction goes high enough i will add them in for free, otherwise there will be an additional cost, again, if you want them. The paint has been scratched off of the top of the amp so that it will make proper contact to the grounding shield on the top of the inside of the amp when clamped by the chassis straps. And now, a word about the seller...i am an old Electrical Engineer and Former Touring Musician (at it for almost 50 Years!) who enjoys repairing and restoring old electronic equipment and pro audio/sound equipment; in particular, Musical Instrument Amplifiers, Mixers old radios, Heathkit, Test Equipment, McIntosh, Marantz, Western Electric, Altec Lansing, JBL, H. H. Scott, Old Receivers, and just about anything that uses a vacuum tube.i DO work on all musical instrument amplifiers, Hammond's and Leslie's both tube and transistor/semiconductor. i also do custom modifications and all new amplifier designs from scratch including transformers!
